At Raymus Homes, we build homes that families can comfortably live and grow in. But if you want to make sure that you make the most of your space when decorating, then we are here to help! Here are a few design tips to keep in mind when decorating.
Whether you have plenty of space to work with or not, mirrors are your best friend when aiming to manipulate perspectives. Not only are mirrors beautiful and functional, but they reflect light and their surroundings. The result? A room that feels much bigger than it is.
Darker colors are great if you are wanting to create a rich or intimate feeling, but that is because darker colors absorb light and make spaces feel smaller. If you want the opposite effect, then light colors are the way to go. Especially when it comes to paint colors and large pieces of furniture, choosing lighter colors will lend to an airy, open feeling.
Another thing that makes spaces feel small and cramped is blocking off traffic. For example, if you set up furniture in a way that makes you have to shuffle around it in order to get from point A to point B, this will make a room feel cramped and cluttered. When arranging furniture, try to create a layout that allows traffic to flow seamlessly from room to room. This is a great way to make sure your space feels big and open.
Usually cutting corners is the last thing you want to do, but when it comes to furniture you may just want to. Things with rounded edges are easier to maneuver around and tend to take up less space than traditional pointed corners. If you want to incorporate this idea into your home, begin with oval or circular coffee and dining tables. In addition, you can pair your table with clear acrylic chairs. Because you will be able to see through the chairs, it will really fool the eye into thinking the room goes on and on.
These design tricks are things that every home can benefit from, whether large or small. If you are still looking for the perfect home for you and your family, why not look at our available homes? Or give us a call personally! We would love to answer any questions you have and guide you to the perfect home.
