Dress Up a Room with Crown Molding

By Raymus Homes - 7-28-2021

Raymus builds homes with quality and style. We aim to create the perfect base for you so that you can make it your own. One of the best ways to add dimension and elegance to a room is with crown molding. Adding crown molding is a very DIY friendly project that even an amateur can take on. With that being said, here’s a list of our favorite places to add crown molding to.

Above the Door

You can make an impressive statement even before you walk in a room by adding crown molding above a doorway. All you need to do is add a board above the existing doorway, sandwich a piece of decorative trim above that, and then place the crown molding on top of that.

Above Cabinets

Applying crown molding to the gaps above your cabinets can give you a beautiful built-in look. It's an easy job that you can complete in a weekend with just a few supplies such as a saw, hammer, wood filler, and nails. The finished result will make it look expensive without an expensive price tag.

The Ceiling

The ceiling is one of the most classic places for crown molding. It doesn't take height away from the ceiling but adds a grand appearance. You can perfectly frame a dining room, living room, or bedroom in order to give it a bit more elegance. Painting the molding can also do well to add dimension to your room.

Windows

Crown molding around your windows can make them seem larger and more finished. They also do well to support window treatments and hide their hardware as they sit inside the molding. Molding provides the perfect frame for your windows.

Corner Blocks

If you want your molding to be even more decorative, corner blocks can help you do that. Corner blocks come in a variety of ornate styles and can be just the thing to elevate the corners of a room.

Crown molding can make spaces feel extra polished and expensive. On top of that, it's just plain easy to install. Hopefully these ideas have inspired you to run down to your local home improvement store and start this project for yourself!
